Botox

Botox is the material used to treat the appearance of worry lines, crows feet, laughter lines and any other winkles that may appear when we laugh or frown. Botox is injected into the underlying muscles and works by weakening them.

Following treatment the skin remails smooth while untreated muscles contract normally allowing normal facial expressions to remain unaffected. Botox has been used safely for over 10 years.

Treatment

Giving Botox injections is a simple, safe and effective procedure. A very small amount of Botox is injected using a very fine needle into the problem area. Because the needle is so fine there is minimal pain associated with the injections. No sedation or local anaesthetic is required and you can drive and carry on with your normal life immediately after treatment. You may have slight temporary bruises at the injection site but otherwise there will be no visible signs that you have had treatment.

Results

Regular Botox injections will help in maintaining a more youthful appearance however this procedure will not improve static wrinkles that are not due to facial contractions. A dermal filler such as restylane would be more beneficial for these.

The Botox effect will start to spear 3-4 days after the injection and will last for 3-4 months.

Results from clinical trials suggest that the duration of benefits increase with time so you may require treatments less frequently.
